The Socialize Forecast - 2/20/24 Super Bowl Steal

Helen:

Welcome to the socialized forecast February 20, 2024. The Tuesday edition of the socialized podcast where we take you through the trends, original content ideas and social media updates of the week. Let's kick it off with a rabbit hole I went down when I discovered the power of social media which proved to be a win for one creator. She saw a Super Bowl ad, which looks strangely similar to one of her TikToks. And she called out the brand.

Helen:

So her dad actually made a video talking about the fact that this brand stole her daughter's his daughter's idea. So what I have brought you in the newsletter this week are the links of what I'll call the video paper trail of what happened. So you'll see Sharon's original video. You'll see the Cetaphil Super Bowl ad, which was released during the Super Bowl, which really shares a father daughter relationship that is very, very similar, if not exactly similar to her TikTok video. And then the video where Sharon's dad calls out Cetaphil on one of Sharon's TikToks.

Helen:

And then finally, you will see the creator collab, which was a paid sponsorship. So her speaking up on social media and talking about how she was, I guess, robbed of her idea, paid off for that creator. And it was really interesting to see how the power of social media can really push a brand to do the right thing. And we hope to see this more because I'm sure there's a lot more of this going on behind the scenes. Okay.

Helen:

Let's power into the trends for the week. They're very easy, so I really urge you to hop on these trends this week. I'm gonna do a couple of them myself. Just gotta think of the ideas of how I wanna use them. But the first one is All That Work, and this is a Glee audio that's making the rounds and it's trending with a fun format because you can either lip sync or just stare into space off camera as if you're thinking about all the years you spent doing something, and then it just came to an end at one one day for no reason.

Helen:

So it's really it's an interesting trend. You could think about this from the standpoint of your business, how much effort and time you put into designing your website, and then something didn't pan out with it, or something that you did to develop a hobby or a habit in your life. And then all of a sudden one day you stop doing it. A really fun one, and there's a lot of interesting ways you can do it. I always say click on the audio and take a look to be inspired by how by how other people are using it because it'll give you some food for thought on how you can take it in your direction.

Helen:

Again, not copying someone's idea. That's never a good idea, but just getting inspired about how other people use it. These sounds creatively can spur your thinking on. Alright. Now the next one is also you should know this too.

Helen:

And, of course, Julie sent this one to me because it's one of those things where the one that she pulled up, one of the examples, is an audio where you're telling a risky story about something that happened in your childhood or your past or teen years or whatever. And then you and then the person suddenly turns and says, as if to his parents, oh, you should know this too, where now he's old enough to let his friends in, let his parents in on what he did with his friends. So that's a funny one. And you can again use this for business niches by saying you're talking as if you're talking to your colleagues or your, you know, people that you're working with. And then you look and say, oh, you should know this too, and maybe it's the client or maybe it's the customer.

Helen:

So there's a lot of clever ways you can use trends like that, where you can convert them from just a fun friendship trend and then turn that into a business or a niche type of creative. So I love thinking outside the box in that way. I think you should grab both of these. They're so easy to do and so fun. That one's a nice easy lip sync.

Helen:

What's interesting about that one, and maybe you wanna push yourself to do it, is create this little second camera idea. So the guy in the example, he is looking at one camera telling the friend, and then he turns. And so there's a little quite a fake head turn transition where he's then facing another camera as if it was another person and including them in on the story. So you can do that, or you can just do it straight up and not worry about making it that creative from a camera angle standpoint. But maybe challenge yourself to do it because I think that's what makes it a little more fun.

Helen:

Okay. And then the final trend for the week is called there would be signs. And this is quick and easy to tackle if you're short on time because, again, it's a 2 picture photo carousel type thing. And the premise is if I won the lottery, I wouldn't tell anyone. So that's the text you put on your first scene.

Helen:

And then on the second photo, you're gonna show photos of the things that you would do if you won the lottery. So you might see a picture of something very extravagant that you would do. Let's say it's buy a yacht or something simple where you this creator did where she did, her favorite collectible, and she has now tons and tons of one of the favorite things that she collects. So lots of fun ways to use that one if you won the lottery. Whereas if you're a business and you got all the orders you wanted in a way, you could use it in that way, or you could just straight up use it as if it was a lottery win and see what you think about they see what what you would do and what you would share.

Helen:

But that was really a fun one. And the second title is interesting because it says there would be signs. So you're showing the text on screen. There would be signs, and you're in the photos showing what those things are that you would you would buy if you won the lottery. So nice fun one for you there.

Helen:

Before we get into the content ideas, I'm gonna talk about 2 things. One is a reminder about our giveaway. And our giveaway, I'm gonna almost say it's sort of sponsored by Saramonic because here's the microphone brand. Let me show you. Showing you.

Helen:

So this is my favorite microphone to plug into my phone and record with. And Saramonic is donating to us the microphones for the giveaway. So here's the Saramanic brand, and they are going to be supplying the microphones for the content creation packages that we are giving away. So thank you to them. We appreciate it.

Helen:

And if you're there's still time to get in on the giveaway because it's closing on February 28th at 11:59 PM eastern time. So make sure you get in it, answer that those survey questions, and join us in the opportunity to win. And the 3 prizes are the content creation gears packages, but the 4th prize is 1 on 1, 2 1 on 1 sessions with me personally where we can work together 1 on 1. Other reminder for today is that there is a workshop coming up on the 27th February, so the day before the giveaway, at 4 PM EST, I'm going to teach how to use keyframes in editing. So this is going to be another in the 4 part the series that was before, 1 o editing 101, 2, 3, and 4.

Helen:

This is editing 105. We're gonna still go slow, a nice slow pace for a beginner level, but I'm gonna teach you how you can use keyframes to do some moves on your scenes, to slide something out of the frame, to do things where you want some movement in the scene and you maybe didn't film it with movement. So it's gonna be a really nice lesson because there's lots of fun things you can do from with keyframes. And just knowing how they work will open up of creativity in your mind because you'll think, oh, I know how that's done with key frames, and you'll be able to assimilate that to other things that you might wanna do using key frames. So join us because that's gonna be a fun one.

Helen:

And I I just love when it's an interactive workshop. So that way I can spend the time teaching and answer questions because sometimes I'm teaching a lesson and I might assume something that you already know. And when I get questions in the chat, I can clarify them right on the spot. So yay to that. Love it.

Helen:

Alright. Now for the original content ideas this week, these are this is a good one because I don't think a lot of people do voice over video. I think a lot of us do on camera speaking, and sometimes we do maybe things to music or lip sync or trends. But voice over is an underutilized tool. And I was recently asked by a follower if they could explain if I could explain how to overlap a voice over.

Helen:

So in other words, the I hear my own voice, and then I'm kind of stepping on my own line on top of myself. So it's like I'm overlapping myself. And it's a it's a a style that could really keep your listener engaged because they're not waiting. They're into the next sentence, and it really keeps you listening. So she asked me how to do it, and I did a tutorial, which is included in the tutorials this week.

Helen:

So I did a tutorial about it, and I also want to challenge that if there's something where you have some videos in your phone or some photos, and you can create an engaging voice over video describing that, Maybe challenge yourself to do this little trick with the voice over since I, just taught it recently. That might be a one a fun new way to put out some different kind of content. The next one is a dance party. I love this one because I'm always ready to dance on the street with strangers. Wherever I go, I like to bring a dance party with me.

Helen:

It's always in my head. I'm all about it. And I know a lot of people don't like to dance, but I'm putting up here challenge yourself and have a dance party. Find a smaller independent artist potentially to create with or to dance to, And you can take yourself into a new place, which is there is a Beyonce Texas Hold'em song trending now and it's a dance trend. And somebody challenged me on one of my videos and wrote in a comment, okay, we need to see you do the Texas Texas Hold'em dance now.

Helen:

So I think I might be turning on my music and watching somebody's to to at least dance tutorial or something to learn how to do it. So you might see that coming from me soon. So I have included that song in the newsletter this week as one of the trending pieces of music to use. And if you wanna use that one and do your dance video, I'm telling you, this one is getting pushed out. And it's going I it's like every other video on my for you page now.

Helen:

It's somebody it's couples doing this dance or individuals doing this dance. So maybe give it a shot. And then the last one is the photo dump idea because photos are easy to do. They're easy to push they're easy to make because you've got the photos usually in your phone. We're always taking photos.

Helen:

If you are a content creator, it's one of the things that's natural. And then sometimes you take photos and you forget you even have them. So sometimes we just get caught up in trying to make video content. But potentially think about this idea of a photo carousel. It can be put on any social media platform.

Helen:

You can do it as a photo dump. You can put it in unique twists on it. We put 2 examples in the newsletter showing, 2 creators. One of them, Julie, was one of her own where she shared a post of her performing clips with thoughts and images thoughts over the images. So she's got text over the images talking about what she was thinking in those moments when she's performing, which was a really fun one.

Helen:

So you can find photos in your phone of something you were doing and then put what you were thinking at the time. That might be a fun one. Or you can put one where you're thinking anxious thoughts. So it's funny sometimes where you see you look perfectly calm and then what really is going on in your mind might be something completely different. So it's a great opportunity to be creative and do something that could potentially be relatable to your audience.

Helen:

Alright. Onto the tutorials. One of them I already mentioned, which is how to overlap your voice over lines, and this one is done in CapCut so easily. I'm I'm telling you, this is a beginner 1 on 1 lesson. I'll probably go over it again on the workshop because that's how nice and beginner level it is where you it shows how you can take audio and overlap so easily by using different layers on your timeline.

Helen:

So check out that tutorial because if you don't know how to do that trick, it's gonna help you with a lot of things. It's a good one. The other one I included this week is just how to stop a TikTok from posting. Now I don't think this works as well on Instagram in my experience. When I did this tutorial and I, people were like mind blown.

Helen:

Wow. What a great idea. I never thought to do that. I usually quit the app or quickly shut off my phone. But what I suggest is swiping down quickly and hitting airplane mode, and I demonstrate how I do it in the in the tutorial.

Helen:

But what you'll wanna realize is that some platforms like Instagram, as soon as I turn airplane mode back on, back off, and then I go to open Instagram again, the thing is still posting. So it really is seems to be very TikTok specific that it works. I don't know that you'll have success doing this same trick on Instagram. That's why I included it specifically just for TikTok. Alright.

Helen:

Now lastly, I just included here to think about signing up for the workshop because I do think there's a lot to be learned when you're watching a lesson in longer form, and it will help you understand when you have other people asking questions that you might have and not thing to ask. And all of a sudden you're in the editing and you're trying to figure it out and you're going what? I I don't remember her showing this part so it is helpful when you see what other people are asking in the chat so join us on that workshop it's the 27th February at 4 PM EST. There is one more thing that happened this last week which I do wanna share. We had our live workshop with Gina from Skinnytaste.

Helen:

And it was so good. It was like being in a warm little family with her answering questions about her social media, not about cooking and not about recipes, which was out of her comfort zone. And we had people live in the chat asking questions. So we were able to field those questions with Gina. She was so lovely and welcoming to the whole idea, and we really, really appreciated having her on as our first guest.

Helen:

And that will be released in Friday's podcast. So come back on Friday and have a nice listen to the chat that we had with Gina. And that is going to be a bit of a longer episode because we had a nice 45 minute workshop together and I really really loved it. And now I'll just wrap it up by saying, if you landed here by accident from a podcast search, welcome. And don't forget to subscribe to the newsletter so you can get the links for all the things that are mentioned here in the podcast.

Helen:

You can also go to our website to find a free Tik TOK course if that's something you would like to learn and plenty of free workshops and tutorials. So it is hellosocialize.com and that is where you can find all the things and the sign up for the newsletter. Thanks for being here and have a good week. We'll see you on Friday. Bye.
